Anyone else feel this way? I've been here for 12 years and The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Thoughts? Thanks!

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Seattle about 8 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is improving.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great Southern places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

I've lived in West for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- The pet-friendliness scene is average
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Summers can be brutally hot
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The walkability is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I work in consulting here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is decent. Hope this helps!.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.
