Been meaning to ask this. Rent is about $1,239/month for a decent place. With a population of 23,069, Horizon City is a small town. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a nurse, 34, moved here 13 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Riverside and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The nightlife situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for remote workers. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $100K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'm a project manager and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Pine Hills. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in engineering. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Definitely worth checking out..

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much reasonable but now it's surprisingly good.
