Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I'm a electrician and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in East. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in retail. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like seafood.
No regrets on my end..

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great Korean places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The public transit is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Midtown for 10 years. Moved from Atlanta for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Rising rent and home prices. And school system can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 8/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Charlotte about 12 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is decent.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. No regrets on my end..
