Relocating to Horizon West, FL -pros and cons?

Hey folks, I'm retired and You can expect to pay around $2,236 for rent here. Household incomes average around $123,586 in Horizon West. Rent is about $2,236/month for a decent place. Median household income is $123,586, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I'm a data analyst and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is solid and there's always something going on.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely excellent and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (West) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for weather and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The pet-friendliness is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 1 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
