Been meaning to ask this. You can expect to pay around $1,251 for rent here. Median household income is $99,121, which feels pretty solid for the area. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Anyone in a similar situation? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Pittsburgh it's better than expected.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from New York about 12 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Urban sprawl is real
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is excellent.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Definitely worth checking out..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is improving in most areas.

The food scene here is average. Tons of great craft beer places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. housing market used to be much established but now it's better than expected.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a teacher, 40, moved here 3 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in North and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Close to major attractions
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The safety situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for retirees. solid vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $40K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2023 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
