Been living here since 2011. Crime rate is something to consider -Hoschton sits at 110.5 per 100K. Household incomes average around $96,081 in Hoschton. Median household income is $96,081, which feels pretty solid for the area. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Thanks for reading. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a physical therapist, 27, moved here 3 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in West and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Affordable housing options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The nightlife situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for couples. improving vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $60K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.
