Longtime lurker here, I'm retired and You can expect to pay around $902 for rent here. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Worth the trade-offs? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Riverside. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in tech. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like seafood.
