Rent in Hot Springs getting crazy

Longtime lurker here, Homes are going for about $156,900 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Is this normal for Hot Springs? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The walkability is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely excellent and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Downtown) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I work in education here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is solid. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Dallas about 8 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is solid.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Good luck with whatever you decide..
