What to expect moving to Houghton?

Been living here since 2012. With a population of 1,685, Houghton is a small town. Household incomes average around $87,188 in Houghton. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Does this match your experience?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in government. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Italian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
