OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Uptown. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in government. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 37, moved here 13 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in South and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Four distinct seasons
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The food scene situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for couples. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Chicago about 15 years ago. The main reasons were school and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is tough.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Happy to answer more specific questions..
