Just moved to Howe, any tips?

Longtime lurker here, I grew up here but left for a while. Household incomes average around $57,417 in Howe. Average temperature is around 64--F, so the weather is moderate. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Anyone in a similar situation? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much wild but now it's hit or miss.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in East for 2 years. Moved from Boston for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Limited entertainment options. And walkability can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 9/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to LA it's excellent.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The walkability is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely improving and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (East) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The traffic is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. the quality of life is solid.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in South. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

No regrets on my end..
