Considering Hoxie vs San Diego -help me decide

Been meaning to ask this. I grew up here but left for a while. Homes are going for about $173,000 on average. Household incomes average around $68,750 in Hoxie. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Is this normal for Hoxie? Thanks in advance! It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely tough and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely average and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Riverside) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
