Random thought, Homes are going for about $457,400 on average. Rent is about $1,417/month for a decent place. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Am I overthinking this? The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Used to live on the North side, now on the Fairview side. Completely different vibe. the quality of life is solid.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 4 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into running, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Atlanta about 7 years ago. The main reasons were school and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Happy to answer more specific questions..

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much wild but now it's average.
