So, Rent is about $1,276/month for a decent place. Anyone in a similar situation?

I've lived in The Heights for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- The public transit scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much pricey but now it's solid.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 11 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Denver about 8 years ago. The main reasons were school and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is challenging.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to New York it's surprisingly good.
