Rent vs buy in Hueytown -what makes sense?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but You can expect to pay around $1,276 for rent here. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

I've lived in Old Town for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Close to major attractions
- The walkability scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to LA it's excellent.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great BBQ places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
