Freelancing from Hull -experience?

Anyone else feel this way? You can expect to pay around $1,885 for rent here. Median household income is $127,112, which feels pretty solid for the area. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What are your go-to spots? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 29, moved here 14 years ago from Austin. I've lived in South and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The safety situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for retirees. tough vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Fairview for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Close to major attractions
- The traffic scene is decent

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Charlotte about 12 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Nightlife is limited

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is challenging.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in The Heights for 9 years. Moved from Phoenix for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Far from beaches/mountains. And cost of living can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 5/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Eastside area are average. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 13 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is decent.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
