Hi all, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Household incomes average around $119,951 in Huntersville. It's a a smaller city city with about 62,458 people. Median household income is $119,951, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $439,300 on average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Am I overthinking this? Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 25, moved here 10 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in Highland and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Diverse dining options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The outdoor recreation situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for couples. improving vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $40K-$130K here.
**Final verdict:**

I've lived in Sunset for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The pet-friendliness scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in West. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in construction. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Indian.
