I'm a college student here and It's a a smaller city city with about 53,658 people. You can expect to pay around $1,440 for rent here. The median home value here is around $557,600, which is pretty steep. Household incomes average around $56,952 in Huntington Park. Poverty rate is 15.5%, which is higher than I expected. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Worth the trade-offs? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 15 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Phoenix about 5 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited public transit options
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is challenging.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Fairview for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Diverse dining options
- The healthcare scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. No regrets on my end..

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is nightlife. Other than that, No regrets on my end..
