Is Huntington Park walkable?

Hi all, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Poverty rate is 15.5%, which is higher than I expected. Household incomes average around $56,952 in Huntington Park. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Am I wrong here? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Old Town. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 8 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Used to live on the Fairview side, now on the Oak Park side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

The food scene here is surprisingly good. Tons of great farm-to-table places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.
