From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in East for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- The cost of living scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Charlotte about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is challenging.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Used to live on the South side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The safety is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Midtown. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in consulting. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
