Affordable areas near Huntington Station?

Curious what people think. We have two kids and With a population of 33,283, Huntington Station is a smaller city. Crime rate is something to consider -Huntington Station sits at 22.0 per 100K. Median household income is $129,121, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.
