Random thought, Homes are going for about $540,400 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,867 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Huntington Station sits at 22.0 per 100K. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What do you all think? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Eastside. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in tech. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
No regrets on my end..

I'm a pharmacist and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely average and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Riverside) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
