Anyone regret moving to Huntington Woods?

So, Been living here since 2013. Rent is about $2,266/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 1.1%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks in advance! Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Eastside. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in finance. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in South area are challenging. Kids love it here.

Bought a house here in 2015 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a writer, 44, moved here 15 years ago from Austin. I've lived in North and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Can feel isolated
3. The walkability situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for remote workers. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Uptown for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
- The housing market scene is improving

The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much developing but now it's solid.
