How is Huntley for outdoor activities?

Median household income is $86,349, which feels pretty solid for the area. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Am I wrong here? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely underrated and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Eastside) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Moved here from Tampa about 12 years ago. I have mixed feelings honestly. Still getting used to safety but Happy to answer more specific questions..

Bought a house here in 2021 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Springfield. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in government. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like seafood.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
