Huntsville is underrated, change my mind
Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Household incomes average around $70,778 in Huntsville. The median home value here is around $263,100, which seems about average. Rent is about $1,078/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $263,100 on average. With a population of 219K, Huntsville is a mid-size city. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.
Pros:
- Good job market
- Good schools
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport connections
Cons:
- Hot summers
- Limited nightlife
- Mosquitoes and humidity
TIA! It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.
