We have two kids and Household incomes average around $105,125 in Hutchison. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Thanks in advance! It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely excellent and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (South) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

I'm a lawyer and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Bought a house here in 2015 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The traffic is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in East. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
