OK so Born and raised here. The median home value here is around $296,100, which seems about average. Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Has anyone dealt with this?

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if dating scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Highland. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Asian.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 10 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into running, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..
