First post here. I grew up here but left for a while. Median household income is $94,231, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's a a small town city with about 20,861 people. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Am I wrong here? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I've lived in Fairview for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The weather scene is tough
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
