Came here for cost of living and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The traffic is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Denver about 1 years ago. The main reasons were work and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
