Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The community vibe is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Baltimore about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Oak Park. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in real estate. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.
