What's it really like living in Hyde Park?

Anyone else feel this way? Just moved here 14 months ago and Crime rate is something to consider -Hyde Park sits at 37.5 per 100K. Homes are going for about $507,400 on average. It's a a small town city with about 5,410 people. Median household income is $108,068, which feels pretty solid for the area. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Thanks for reading. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I've lived in South for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The outdoor recreation scene is decent

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..
