Idaho Falls is underrated, change my mind

Curious what people think. Military spouse here. Poverty rate is 8.1%, which is pretty low. It's a a smaller city city with about 66,672 people. Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. Crime rate is something to consider -Idaho Falls sits at 277.0 per 100K. Household incomes average around $69,630 in Idaho Falls. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Diverse community
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Sprawl everywhere
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Boring for young people
- Far from major airports
- Homelessness issues downtown
It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Charlotte about 4 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
