What surprised you most about Idaho Falls?

Hey everyone, There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Am I wrong here? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

I've lived in Uptown for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- The pet-friendliness scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The pet-friendliness is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Definitely worth checking out..

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The traffic is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Maple Ridge. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in engineering. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

No regrets on my end..
