Been meaning to ask this. I relocated for work and Household incomes average around $150,783 in Ilchester. The median home value here is around $498,500, which is pretty steep. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Thoughts? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 9 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Springfield for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Strong sense of community
- The pet-friendliness scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Urban sprawl is real
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
