Housing market in Ilchester right now

Anyone else feel this way? We're a young couple and With a population of 27,552, Ilchester is a smaller city. Household incomes average around $150,783 in Ilchester. Rent is about $1,963/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 3.5%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Close to nature
- Walkable downtown
- Active local events

Cons:
- Limited nightlife
- Limited dining options
- Poor road conditions
- Limited cultural events
- Not enough green space
Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Portland about 7 years ago. The main reasons were family and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is decent.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Good luck with whatever you decide..
