Things Imperial Beach needs to improve

Hey everyone, I'm originally from San Diego and You can expect to pay around $1,914 for rent here. Homes are going for about $811,000 on average. Median household income is $79,071, which feels about average for the area. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The dating scene is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Houston about 11 years ago. The main reasons were school and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps!.
