My family moved here when I was a kid. Rent is about $1,396/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $344,700 on average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What do you all think? Any help is appreciated.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Downtown for 15 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Can feel isolated. Limited entertainment options. And nightlife can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 6/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community vibe is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..

The food scene here is average. Tons of great seafood places. it's exactly what I was looking for.

I've lived in West for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The dating scene scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The weather is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..
