Why I chose Imperial over bigger cities

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a remote worker and Homes are going for about $344,700 on average. Rent is about $1,396/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 4.8%, which is about average. It's a a small town city with about 20,943 people. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Low crime in most areas
- Good schools
- Walkable downtown
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Hot summers
- Cold winters
- Limited dining options
Am I wrong here? The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Riverside. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in tech. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
