I've lived in North for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The outdoor recreation scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I work in finance here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is decent. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely underrated and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (East) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Dallas about 13 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is tough.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Bought a house here in 2018 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

The food scene here is average. Tons of great Italian places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
