Day-to-day life in Independence, MO

OK so I work in insurance and Homes are going for about $166,400 on average. Rent is about $1,061/month for a decent place. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Would love some local perspective. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Springfield area are solid. Kids love it here.
