Hey folks, Military spouse here. The median home value here is around $305,500, which seems about average. Crime rate is something to consider -Independence sits at 56.0 per 100K. Poverty rate is 1.2%, which is pretty low. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Am I overthinking this? The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up.
