Raising a family in Independence -thoughts?

First post here. We're a young couple and Median household income is $79,158, which feels about average for the area.

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The cost of living is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from San Diego about 1 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Feel free to reach out with questions..

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much affordable but now it's excellent.
