Freelancing from Indian Trail -experience?

OK so It's a a smaller city city with about 41,146 people. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Anyone in a similar situation? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

The food scene here is pretty good. Tons of great farm-to-table places. I love the pace of life here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in West. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in government. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for school and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The nightlife is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 43, moved here 4 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Springfield and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Homeless population growing downtown
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The job market situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for singles. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
