Anyone work in healthcare in Indiana?

Hey folks, Household incomes average around $44,784 in Indiana. With a population of 14,170, Indiana is a small town. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Would love some local perspective. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 12 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into running, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in tech. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Bought a house here in 2016 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.
