Best and worst neighborhoods in Indio

My family moved here when I was a kid. Median household income is $78,709, which feels about average for the area. The median home value here is around $424,700, which is pretty steep. With a population of 90,669, Indio is a smaller city. Average temperature is around 77--F, so it's warm year-round. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Diverse community
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Hot summers
- Sprawl everywhere
- Far from major airports
- Not enough green space
Let me know your thoughts. Thanks! There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Downtown. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.
