Considering Indio vs Portland -help me decide

Crime rate is something to consider -Indio sits at 571.1 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $1,392 for rent here. Median household income is $78,709, which feels about average for the area. Homes are going for about $424,700 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Let me know your thoughts. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've lived in Eastside for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The outdoor recreation scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Feel free to reach out with questions..
