Curious what people think. Homes are going for about $424,700 on average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Worth the trade-offs? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Bought a house here in 2020 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I've lived in Sunset for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The nightlife scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
