Is Indio good for remote workers?

Crime rate is something to consider -Indio sits at 571.1 per 100K. Homes are going for about $424,700 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Am I wrong here?

I've lived in Oak Park for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- The public transit scene is decent

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in South for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
- The food scene scene is tough

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Houston about 6 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. No regrets on my end..

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Greenfield for 2 years. Moved from San Francisco for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is average - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Homeless population growing downtown. Bugs and humidity in summer. And cost of living can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 5/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is nightlife. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 6 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely challenging and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (East) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
