Things Indio needs to improve

Hello, Just moved here 5 months ago and It's a a smaller city city with about 90,669 people. Poverty rate is 9.1%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 77--F, so it's warm year-round. With a population of 90,669, Indio is a smaller city. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Any advice would be great. Thanks for reading. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 10 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Nashville it's underrated.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Minneapolis about 5 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are competitive, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely improving and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (South) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 34, moved here 13 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Lakewood and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Limited shopping options
3. The walkability situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Lakewood: Great for remote workers. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if pet-friendliness matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I work in healthcare here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 4 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions
- The cost of living scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Highland. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Houston about 6 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Hope this helps!.
