Been living here since 2014. Crime rate is something to consider -Inglis sits at 510.8 per 100K. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Anyone in a similar situation?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 5 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
